Costa del Sol music events
The sounds in Costa del Sol do not only come from the passage of the waves or the enjoyment on the beach. The coastline is also a place full of music which brings melodies to your stays at the Alanda Hotel. Many diverse concerts and festivals take place here, standing out for their international line-ups and the big stars taking to its stages.
The music event that resonates most on the Costa del Sol is Starlite. We talk about the longest running festival in Europe, filling the city of Marbella with concerts for more than 60 days: from mid-June to the end of August or early September.
Set in a natural amphitheatre at the magnificent Sierra Blanca mountain range, the festival also offers a gourmet restaurant, art exhibitions, fashion shows, film premieres, a charity gala and an open-air nightclub. This luxury boutique is frequented by sportsmen, businessmen, celebrities and aristocrats of renown. Deepak Chopra, Boris Becker, Carlos Slim, Mia Farrow or Gunilla von Bismarck have been some of the most showy guests. In addition, Antonio Banderas has been one of the main promoters of the event since its inauguration in 2012.

Starlite’s line-up has printed the biggest names in global music, such as Elton John, Rosalía, Ludovico Einaudi, Alejandro Sanz, Kool & The Gang or Maluma, bringing together the sounds of all genres and regions of the world.
Just a 10-minute drive from the Alanda Hotel, Starlite makes your stay as glamorous and musical as you want it to be. But there are also other venues on the Costa del Sol that are a must for our visitors, catering for all musical tastes.
On the shores of the Mediterranean, under the Sohail medieval castle, Marenostrum has made Fuengirola an essential stop for artists such as Jeniffer Lopez, Sting and Bob Dylan, as well as the spot for international outreach festivals such as Sohail Jazz & World Music. The venue fills its line-up in the warmer months of the year, between May and September, fusing the recent hits with the local sounds and the history of the place. The site is listed as a Cultural Interest Asset because of the castle and the archaeological remains discovered there, which date back to Phoenician times. In addition, on the same site the ancient Roman city of Suel was placed, back between the 2nd and 3rd centuries.

Closer to our hotel, the nascent Cala de Mijas festival, inaugurated last year, has managed to bring bands such as the Artic Monkeys and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. In its first edition alone it brought together 107,000 people from more than 50 countries. For this year, the festival has already confirmed artists such as Florence & The Machine and Arcade Fire, promising to become the revelation festival in Spain.

The Costa del Sol’s weather and rich culture have made this enclave to be the perfect home for many events. However, it is also an ideal host for temporary and touring shows. One example is Candlelight, the worldwide franchise of acoustic concerts surrounded by a stunning candlelight set. The event returns to Málaga once again with concerts that revisit the best of Vivaldi or pay tribute to the Oscars best soundtracks. And all of this in very exclusive venues that creates a very intimate atmosphere, such as the city’s Carmen Thyssen Museum.

With all this, Alanda opens its doors to all music lovers who want to live the musical agenda of the Costa del Sol, combining memorable experiences with a five-star stay.
